It is hard to capture the stunning presence of this hand-thrown vase in photographs. The beautiful variegated turquoise/aqua colored glaze makes it feel like a painting, and as if it might be ancient, though it dates from the mid- to late 20th century. Tall and with graceful, elegant lines, It would be lovely at the center of the dinner table, on a mantle, or anywhere it might be seen both up close and from a distance.
The vase, which is in perfect condition, appears unsigned. It measures 8.75 inches tall, with a diameter of 6 inches at the lip and 2.5 inches at the base. It was purchased from an estate sale that included a wonderful collection of mid-century and contemporary ceramics from Japan, Europe, and the U.S.
